Chapter Two

The crossing over makes living a bit like a waking dream. Everything becomes unfamiliar; the furniture in her rented cabin, the woods outside at night, the Leary’s car passing her house on the driveway. Her drive to work becomes baffling, because it seems that she’s driving roads she’s never seen before.

At WQXO, Luna runs the shift from seven til midnight, six nights a week. She’s been doing it for fifteen years – only at a backwater operation like Quixxo could someone just settle into a groove and stay there for as long as she liked. She works alone, but for the salespeople who rush in at seven o’clock, waving production orders for spots already on the morning schedule, begging Luna to produce them so that McKibben, the morning drive guy, would be able to play them when they came up on his sheet.
